In vitro experimentation with chondrocyte
transplantation to cartilage explants show :
* A linear relationship between biosynthetic activity and the
number of seeded chondrocytes.
* A high proportion of synthesized proteoglycans was lost to
the medium and this suggests that for at least in early times,
an overlying membrane is important.
