* A fundamental feature of cartilage differentiation in the
developing limb is the formation of a prechondrogenic
cell condensation.
* In in vitro studies it has been suggesteed that mesenchymal
cell aggregates must achieve a treshold size before
chondrogenesis can proceed.
Cottrill et al. Dev Biol 1987:122,503-515
* The dedifferentiated chondrocytes have a similarity to primitive
mesenchymal cells and an implantation of a high density of these
in vitro expanded « immature » chondrocyte could imitate the
prechondrogenic cell condensation and cartilage formation .
